Albert had taken over his father's business. His father at one time
had a cafe and bowling alley on Washington Street and a later a
delicatessen store on the same street. Albert received his education
in the public schools of Utica and he also was a graduate of the Utica
school of Commerce. Soon after leaving school, he entered partnership
with his father, and aided in conducting the cafe and bowling alleys.
Later, when his father sold this business and bought the delicatessen
store, now run by Fritz Helm. Mr. Seelman accompanied his father in
this new business venture. About four years ago his father died, and
shortly after Mr. Seelman sold the business. After leaving the store
business, Mr. Seelman entered the employ of the Remington Arms Company
at Ilion and worked there for about a year and a half. Later he
resigned to accept another position with the Savage Arms Corporation,
and he was working for that conceren up to the time of his death. A
year ago he moved to New Hartford, where he had since made his home.
Mr. Seelman was a man who was well known and popular wherever he went.
While in business he had a high since of honor and his dealings with
all persons were upright and far beyond reproach. He was a devout
Christian and regularly attended St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica.
