Also called rey Bermudo I "el Diácono" Fruelez de Asturias y Galicia. Bermudo I Fruelez "el Diácono", rey de Asturias was "Hermano de Aurelio, sobrino de Alfonso I." He was born circa 750. He was the son of Fruela, duque de Cantabria. He married Numila (?) before 785. He succeeded to the throne of Asturias following Silo and Mauregato in 788. He contended with summer campaigns against his kingdom by Hishâm I of Córdoba between 788 and 791. King of Asturias and Galicia in Frankish Kingdoms, between 788 and 791. He abdicated in 791.
