Notes for this person
From the "Descendants of Joseph Pobst", compiled by Mary Rose, Pobst, page 43. Katie was born at Hesse, Darmstadt, Germany. Conrad Schoen and his family, with four other families, in the winter of 1844-1845 came up the river from New Orleans. They had not intended to stay in this area, but the river froze over and they were forced to wait at Commerce, Mo for a thaw. While waiting they exploredthe country, found the flourishing colony and decided to stay. They took their belongings off the boat and settled around Benton, MO.
