Keystone - Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 23, at 11 a.m. for Benn Eggers, 83, at St. John Lutheran Church, Keystone. The Rev. Melvin Thur officiated. Eggers died Sunday, September 20, 1987 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center following a long illness.
Burial was in the Keystone Cemetery. Born in Keystone, April 24, 1904, he was the son of William and Emma Junge Eggers. He attended school in Keystone where he owned and operated Eggers Cafe for many years.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Keystone Turners, and the Keystone Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. he is survived by one son, Allen, Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Barbara DeKlotz, Cedar Rapids; Cynthia Jennings, Independence and Catherine Fintel,St. Louis, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one brother Raymond, Cedar Rapids.[Zornig Family.FTW]
