Anastasia B. Gebhart, 83, of Elkton, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Brookings Health System. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Elkton, SD.

Anastasia Beverly Maher was born on February 21, 1932 to Stephen and Arla (Zink) Maher at rural Aurora, SD.

Anastasia was united in marriage to George Gebhart on January 3rd, 1952 at St. Williams Catholic Church in Aurora, SD.

She taught at Camp Country School, rural Aurora until she started raising her family. During this time she was also a Fuller Brush Dealer. Anastasia worked at the Elkton School from 1972 – 1997, doing various jobs. After her retirement she worked at the Elkton Diner, the Elkton City Office and the Elkton Museum. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church of Elkton.

Anastasia is survived by her husband, George; nine children, Dee (Scott) Narragon, Theresa (David) Wolf, Jean (Monte) Petersen, Tom (Regina) Gebhart, Ervin (Lisa) Gebhart, Everett (Joan) Gebhart, Leonard Gebhart, Dorothy (Jim) Tipton and Irene (Mark) Middleton; 30 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Isabelle Short; a brother-in-law, Francis Van Sambeek; many nieces and nephews and special friend, “Sister Ben.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Patrick Middleton and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
