Rita M. Heim was born on April 28, 1923 at Faulkton, South Dakota to Anton and Margaret Lenhoff Heim. Her grandparents were Franz and Elizabeth Ziegenfuss Heim and Peter and Mary Unkrur Lenhoff.
On July 3rd, 1944 Rita married Gaylon Armstrong, the son of Robert and Leah Blodgett Armstong, at Faulkton. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong farmed near Athol, before moving to Ashton. Rita was employed by the State of South Dakota, working at the Developmental Center in Redfield. Mr. Armstrong passed away in 1997. In her widowhood, Mrs. Armstrong retired to Aberdeen, SD.
Rita Heim Armstrong passed away on November 15th, 2001 at Aberdeen. Her burial was at the Athol Cemetery in Athol.
Rita was survived by her children, John, Marvin, Alan, Jeff, Glenn, Dorothy, Ellinor, Linda, Paulette, Rose, and Irene, two brothers, Naish and Myrn Heim of Rockham, and Joe and Geri Heim of Redfield, as well as 23 grandchildren.
Mrs. Armstrong was proceeded in death by one son, Raymond in 1959, her parents, Anton and Margaret Heim, two brothers, Lawrence and Vernon, and four sisters, Margaret Taylor Lauritzen, Elizabeth McDermaid, Donna Baumgartner, and Marcella Keller.
