Family records provided by Lillian Gotthardt Johnson show her born in Geneseo, Illinois; however the August, 1870 federal census states that she and her sister, Sophia, were born in Wert umberg (no note of state or country); younger sister Christine/Cecelia is shown as born in Wisconsin. However, Charlotte's marriage license states that she was born in Geneseo, a more likely prospect, since it is doubtful that immigrant farmers would have been travelling around the countryside.
Charlotte or Lotte was musical, like her mother and aunts. She played the organ or some instrument for their Malvern Church. According to Hildur Lovas, she was told that Lottie's favorite pastime was sitting on the river bank and fishing.
The Swedish names of her children are those recorded in the family Bible; Linda Hoeschler photographed the list in 1988 at Ralph Wederquist's Malvern home. Ralph said the Bible would go to Rheba's son in California.
