View this person on FamilySearch to see this information.<br /> Additional information: <br /> <br />LifeSketch: Paul was the fifth child of Gustave Adolph and Sophie Alexandrine Balmer Girod. He left for the United States in 1879. He first went to the Bluffton, Ohio area where he stayed with a German-Swiss family by the name of Hilty. In 1884 Paul became a naturalized citizen; in the Bluffton, Ohio, Lime Grove, Indiana area. November 1890: Paul, Ida and family went to Oregon with his parents. Their third child, Albert Paul was born on the family farm in Oregon in 1891. Spring of 1896, the family which includes five sons returned to Indiana, the Lime Grove area. Paul went to work again for the Meshberger stone quarry. Early 1915 Paul and Ida Marie and family (including only the younger of the now 11 children) sold the farm, now of Berne, Indiana (Monroe Township) where they had been living and moved back to Oregon. There, in 1916, they built a house on the 33 acre farm next to Buena Crest School, six miles north of Salem on the North River Road. Paul and Ida lived out their remaining years together.
