Mrs Minnie Charlotte Brockmann was born September 2, 1871 in Avoca, Iowa. There she spent her childhood and attended public school.
She was married March 6, 1889 to Ferdinand Brockmann at Avoca. To this union were born 4 children. Two boys died in infancy. Still living are one son, Carl Brockmann of Harlan and one daughter, Mrs Vinnie (George) Frahm, of Shelby.
After their marriage, Mr and Mrs Brockmann lived on a farm eat of Shelby for approximately 5 years, after which they moved to a farm west of Harlan. They lived there until 1926. On September 13 of that year, Mr Brockmann died. Shortly after, Mrs Brockmann moved to Harlan, where she lived for four years. In 1930 she moved to Shelby.
For many years she served as a practical nurse in various homes throughout the community.
In October 1951, she fell and fractured her left hip. A year later, in November 1952, she met again with a similar misfortune. Since 1951, she has lived at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs George Frahm, at Shelby. During the last five years, she was in ill health, finding it necessary to endure a great deal of suffering.
She died Thursday, June 28, 1956 at the Myrtue Memorial hospital, in Harlan at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 26 days. At the time of her death, she was a member of the United Evangelical Lutheran church at Shelby.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr and Mrs Henry Meister, one brother, Will Meister and one sister, Mrs Fred Neimann.
Surviving are her two children, Carl of Harlan and Mrs George Frahm of Shelby; two sisters, Mrs Tillie Sievers, of Council Bluffs and Mrs Mary Bees of Council Bluffs, also seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at the Pauley Funeral home at Harlan, with burial in the Harlan cemetery. Officiating clergyman was Rev. Stanley L. Carlsen of Shelby.
