ROBERT 'BOB' L. DINGER: Newspaper Obituary and Death NoticeAberdeen American News (SD) - Saturday, July 7, 2001Deceased Name: ROBERT 'BOB' L. DINGER Hecla --- The funeral for Robert "Bob" L. Dinger, 72, of Hecla will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the United Methodist Church in Hecla. The Rev. Wayne Tieszen will officiate. Burial will be in the Hecla City Cemetery with Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Oakes, N.D., in charge of arrangements. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. He died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at his home. Robert Lee Dinger was born April 26, 1929, to Ernest and Hazel (Hewitt) Dinger near Hecla. This is where he grew up and attended school. After schooling he worked on his uncle Hubert's farm near Hecla. He married Violet Mae Lewis on Oct. 15, 1949, on her family's farm near Hecla. They rented a farm near Hecla before purchasing a farm near Frederick in 1966. They farmed until 1982, when they retired. In 1986, they moved into Hecla. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hecla, and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, fishing and throwing horseshoes. He was known for his sense of humor. Survivors include his wife of Hecla; seven sons, Michael (Beverly) Dinger of Hecla, Randal Dinger of La Crosse, Wis., Ernie Dinger of Aberdeen, Lonnie (Loretta) Dinger of Claremont, Steven (Mary) Dinger of Outer Banks, N.C., Kenneth "Buck" (Lesli) Dinger of Groton, and Cory Dinger of Brookings; four brothers, Harlan Dinger of La Mesa, Calif., Fritz Dinger of Hecla, George Dinger of Kent, Wash., and Albert Dinger of Aberdeen; four sisters, Edna Fetters and Minnie Fetters, both of Milaca, Minn., Lois Wilberts of Banning, Calif., and Donna Stehly of Hecla; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Casketbearers will be Troy Dinger, Jamie Dinger, Brandt Dinger, Dustin Dinger, Mason Dinger, Jon Frohling and Justin Dinger.
