Mineral Point is about 30 oe 40 miles from Juneau Co. It is
the oldest inland city in Wisconsin. Green Bay and Prairie
du Chien are quite a bitolder being in the fur trade.
Mineral Point was first settled in the mid 1820's which is
very early for the area. Before Chicago or Milwaukee. It
was settled by lead miners, and later by the Cornish and
Yorkshiremen in the 1830's and 40's. Louis Foote's house is
still standing. This Louis Foote died about 20 years ago.
I think it was an old family. I suppose the name is common
enough that there would be hundreds of "Feete".....s?
