Nov 3, 1927 OLD SETTLER PASSE TO GREAT BEYOND
Chas Henderson Sr., son of M&M Chas H was born in Moscow, Oct. 29, 1850
and passed away at his home here Oct.27, 1927, aged 76, 11m. 27d
His father came to Iowa at the early days & purchased a large tract of
land from the Gov't and it was on this land that Mr. Henderson was born.
He was married April 24, 1870 to Miss Mary Moriarty and to this union was
born 8 children, five daughters & 3 sons, Mrs. EP Holland, Mora,MN; Mrs.
J. Hoskins, Moscow twp.; Mrs. EC Whitmer & Mrs. HG Nicolaus of Wilton and
Florence who passed away in early life, Lauren of Muscatine, Dr. M.L.of
Milwaukee, WI and Charles F of Wilton. Besides the children who survive
to mourn his going there remain his wife, 15 grandchildren, 3
great-grandchildren and two half brothers Henry Stoneburner of Moscow and
Elias Stoneburnerof Muscatine.
In early life, he was converted, baptized and united with the church and
retained his profession til the end.
He lived close to Moscow tillabout 20 years ago when he moved to his
farm near Wilton. After celebratingtheir golden anniversary April 24,
1920 the children persuaded themm to retire and take a deserved rest
which they did removing to Wilton soon after. ... Interment was in
Oakdale cemetery.
