!1875 Census: Carver County, MN, Camden Township.
1910 Census: Carver County, MN.
A notecard in the files of the Waconia, MN Historical Society says: "Tressmann, E., 1880 map Sec. 2, Camden Twp. 56 acres, Shares 100 acres with John & Fred(erick) Gongoll". Frederick was about the same age as Ernst and also came from Prussia. He may have been Ernst's brother-in-law as this is the maiden name for his wife, Florentine.
His first two son's were born in Germany prior to 1868, while Leo was born in Michigan in 1869 and Louis was born in Minnesota in 1871. This would indicate that they could have come to Mayer about 1870. The abstract of the farm property indicates that they bought the land from the Gongolls in 1874. It also contains an entry in 1912 indicating that Florentine was a widow at that time.
The 1910 census indicated that Ernst didn't speak English.
Per records at Castle Garden, Ernst and Florentine arrived in NYC aboard the Deutchland on 11 May 1868 along with Paul and Emil.
