"Rensselaer - Roy L. FIATO, age 80 years, of Forbes Avenue died Friday,November 29, 2002 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany after ashort illness.
He was born in Albany and lived most of his life in Rensselaer. Mr.FIATO was employed in shipping for the B.T. BABBITT Company in Albany andalso for CDTA, formerly the United Traction Company. He was an U.S. Armyveteran of World War II where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. FIATOwas a member of the Gerald O'NEIL American Legion Post #1683 inRensselaer.
He was the husband of the late Frances T. KETZER FIATO; father of TheresaMaria FIATO of Ravena and Louis R. (Margaret) FIATO Sr. of EastGreenbush; brother of Margurite CASSILLO of Delmar and the late RobertFIATO and Florence DICKERT; grandfather of Andrew, Louis and EricPREGENT, Melissa ROST and Louis Jr. and Nicole FIATO; great-grandfatherof Christopher and Brandan ROST. He is also survived by several niecesand nephews.
Funeral from the W.J. LYONS Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue,Rensselaer, Tuesday morning at 9:00 and 10:00 at St. John's Church,Herrick Street, Rensselaer where a Liturgy of Christian Death and Burialwill be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at thefuneral home Monday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery,East Greenbush.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to theAmerican Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
