On the 1785 tax list of Carlisle, Cumberland County, Eberhart islisted as owning no acreage, just 1 horse and 1 cattle. He made atransfer of property just a few miles north of Carlisle (Perry Co) toGeorge Beck. In 1794 this tract was 150 acres. He then bought aplantation containing over 300 acres on which was two log houses, aspring house, barn, and out buildings just a few miles north of thetract he sold. It was on this plantation that he hung himself(committed suicide) and he is buried there also. He was in the Revolutionary War - Capt John Doyle's Company of theSixth PA Regimen He was a farmer, and the farm (plantation) was still being lived inwhen visited by Pat Ashton in Oct 1981 Sources: Text: Gorgas Family GenForumhttp://genforum.genealogy.com/gorgas/messages/3.html: Catherine Gorgas married Eberhart Lutman, 2 April 1782, in York,Pennsylvania. Her parents were Benjamin Gorgas, b. 22 Aug 1722 inGermantown, Pennsylvania, d. Dec 1788 and Salone Hagaman b. 1721, d.in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. Benjamin's mother was Suijten or SophiaRittenhouse b. about 1690 in Roxborough, Pennsylvania and d. about1748. - Dave Williams Letter to Rachael Fleming Klein 10/17/1970. Dear Rachael. I finally got around to copying the Eberhart LutmanRevolutionary War records for you. I also copied some of the otherdata I have on the family. Our name was originally spelled"Luttmann", pronounced "Lootman". Along the way some of the familydropped the one T and one N - thus "Lutman". However, I found thename spelled many different ways along the way. I have visited the"Lutman Plantation" in now Centre Township, Perry County. The AdamWolf farm is just a short distance from the Lutman's. I also visitedthe Lebanon Cemetery where Adam and Catherine Wolf are buried(Loysville). As of now I do not know where Jacob Lutman is buried.Lilly Lutman tells me there was a family graveyard on the EberhartPlantation where they are buried which over the years has been farmedover. I have been trying to establish the parents of Eberhart's wife,Catherine Gorgas, who was perhaps from York County, Pennsylvania, as Iam told that Eberhart came from York County to CumberlandCounty......Marie Evans
