Heinrich Gross Taken from Die Staats Anzeiger, Friday, 6 July 1945 On Sunday, 3 June, around 11:10 in the evening, passed away after a long illness, father Heinrich Gro©マ in his home in Eureka at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 29 days. Father Gro©マ was born on 5 December 1855 in Gl©·uckstal, South Russia, as the second youngest son of Johannes and Christina Bentz Gro©マ. There he was instructed and confirmed in the Lutheran faith after the words of the Lord. He married Christina Herrmann, and this marriage was blessed with five sons and four daughters. A son and his mother have gone before the father into Eternity, while four sons and four daughters stand in mourning. In 1889 the deceased came to America, and took up a homestead south of Eureka, where, with industry and difficulty, he worked with his family, and the Lord blessed him. He was one of the founders of our Bethe Fellowship south of Eureka. After the death of his first wife, with whom he shared 31 years of joy and sorrow, he married for the second time 2 May 1914 the widow Christina Bender, born Martel. After they had lived together three years on the farm, they came to Eureka and joined St. Paul©ルus where he remained to his end. Earlier he had given his life to the Lord and served him with all his strength. On 21 July 1944 his second wife died and he continued in widowhood in his home. The last time he visited his youngest daughter, they asked him to live with them. The last year the deceased had more illnesses and had several strokes, which in spite of the doctor©ルus help, wore down his body. Those mourning include his four sons: Jakob, Heinrich, Christ, and Pastor Martin Gro©マ, his four daughters: Mrs. John Schutz; Mrs. Heinrich Hamann, Mrs. L. Balliet; and Mrs. G. Wolff and their families, along with the family of his deceased son Eduard and children; 33 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also the children of his second wife, four sons and six daughters with their families, his brother Martin Gro©マ and his wife, and many friends and relatives. May the Lord comfort the mourners. The editor offers his condolences.
