Esther M. Broockmann
Esther M. Broockmann, 93, of Raymore, Mo., passed away December 21, 2008, at the Rehab Center of Raymore. A Celebration of Esther's Life will be on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 310 Johnston Parkway, Raymore, MO 64083. Contributions should be made to the Esther Broockmann Memorial Fund in care of the church. Esther was born on October 3, 1915, in Knox, Indiana, to August and Mary Roos Kuch. Esther married Mearl Broockmann on October 15, 1938, and they moved to this area in 1945. They lived in Springfield and Joplin, Mo., until returning to this area in 1975. Esther worked in the linen department of the Jones Store Co., retiring in 1980. Esther was a former member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Grandview and was a current member of Bethlehem in Raymore and its Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Seasoned Saints. Esther was a proud volunteer for Research Belton Hospital. Esther loved to travel and was an avid adventurer. She was most proud of the fact that she sky dived at the age of 84. Esther was preceded in death by her husband Mearl on December 13, 1997, and her sister, Margie Wentzloff, just two month ago. Esther is survived by her son Richard and wife Bobbie Broockmann of Raymore, and two daughters, Kathleen and husband Mike Mieritz of Oshkosh, Wis., and Candy King of Independence, Mo., 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
