301. MARTHA KIRKPATRICK married Joseph Linn. Their license to marry was dated August 10, 1747. They were married in Somerset County, N. J.; but they soon removed to Sussex County. Martha was born in Belfast, Ireland, in 1728, and died in Sussex County, N. J., March 7, 1791.
Joseph was born in Ireland about 1725 and came to New Jersey about 1740; he grew to manhood at Basking Ridge in Somerset County. There came with him to America his brother James Linn, who was twelve years his senior and who died in Somerset County in 1776 in his 64th year. Joseph died April 6, 1800; for his will, see Chapter VIII. He was Adjutant in the Sussex County, N. J., militia during the Revolutionary War. Eight children:
302. i. Mary Linn; she is named in her father's will, dated 1798, and is charged therein with ?.160 which had been advanced to her; no further record.

+307. vi. Ann Linn, d. 1837, m. Jacob Hull, Sr.
+308. vii. Martha Linn was twice married: (1) to Isaac Shafer, and (2) to Joseph Demund.
+309. viii. Hon. John Linn, b. 1763, d. 1823, at Washington, D. C., m. Martha Hunt.

Linn (II) Joseph , son of John and Margaret Linn , was born in Somerset county, New Jersey , about 1725 , died in Harmony Vale, Sussex county, New Jersey , April 8, 1800 . After his marriage he lived first in Hunterdon county , then near Johnsonbury in Hardwick township , afterwards in Hardiston , and finally in Harmony Vale . He married Martha Kirkpatrick , the daughter or niece of Alexander and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick , of Watties Beach, Dumfriesshire, Scotland , and Mine Brook, Hunterdon county, New Jersey , the grandparents of Chief Justice Andrew Kirkpatrick , of the New Jersey supreme court, who married Jane , daughter of Colonel John Bayard . She was born in Scotland about 1723 , died in Harmony Vale , March 7, 1791 . Children, named in their father's will, dated June 20, 1798 : Andrew , born about 1755 , died in April, 1799 , married Ann Carnes ; John , born December 3, 1763 , died January 5, 1821 , married Martha Hunt ; David ; Alexander , referred to below; Mary ; Margaret ; Ann ; Martha .
