Samuel Click Sr.
The Click family probably emigrated from Germany prior to the Revolutionary War.
The name changed over a period of time. We found family members listed on records
as Gluck Glueck, Glick, Klick and finally as Click.
Information about Samuel Click, Sr. in the early days of settlement in Ohio was given
by Samuel A. Click, the grandson of the first Samuel Click, in a Summit County history,
Centennial History of Summit County Ohio and Representative Citizens, which was
published in 1908. Much of that information, however, has not been documented
from other sources. A complete genealogy (descendant tree), or at least as complete
as we have, will be at the back of this section. Endnotes will document the source
for all information that has been confirmed.

Carole Peterson, a Click cousin, shared a copy of a genealogy she has for the Glick family.
We do not know her sources but will include that information as a possibility for the
ancestry of Samuel Click, Sr. According to Ms. Peterson, she has traced the family back
two more generations to Lohrhaupten, Hanau, Hessen-Nassau, Germany.

According to Carole, Samuel Click’s father was George Frederick Click, b. Oct. 11, 1760
in Albany Twp, Berks, Co., PA and d. before 1801 in Greenwich Twp, Berks Co., PA.
No other children or a wife are listed. George Frederick Click’s father was Johannes Click,
b. Oct. 29, 1715 in Lohrhaupten, Hanau, Hessen-Nassau, Germany. He was married to
Anna Magdalena Herr, b. April 23, 1724 in Lohrhaupten, Hanau, Hessen-Nassau, Germany.
No other information is given. We have not confirmed any of this information.

Magdalena Click died October 16, 1853 at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 24 days.
Samuel Click, Sr. died February 16, 1865 at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 21 days.
They are both buried in Jackson Township at the St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church Cemetery,
which is also known as Mudbrook Cemetery, in Row 1, Lot 21. (17)
