Stevens Genealogy NATHANIEL STEVENS, Esq., of "Summer Hill", near Guilford, Connecticut,succeeded to his father's landed possessions. In 1740 he was commissionedLieutenant, and in 1741 Captain of the 6th Company of the 7th ConnecticutRegiment. He married November 11, 1713, Mindwell, daughter of the Hon.George Graves, of Hartford, member of the General Court, or Legislature,of Connecticut. She died February 12, 1771, and he March 9, 1747, in thereign of King George II, having had issue; I. Mindwell, or Jerusha, born February 2,1715, who married November 20,1733, Jonathan Crampton, Esq. II. Nathaniel, born June 6, 1721, who married first May 14, 1746, SarahGriswold; secondly, October 20, 1762, Ruth Dudley; and thirdly August 15,1787, Rebecca Buel. His first two children were by his first wife, thenext three by his second wife, and the last one by his third wife. Hedied October 8, 1798, when the male heirship passed to his brother, Hon.Elihu Stevens, of Claremont. He had issue;2 1. Jerusha, born April 28, 1747, who married Didymus French. 2. Samuel, born September 19, 1754, who died September 24, 1776, inmilitary service at Fort Ticonderoga, in the War of the AmericanRevolution, unmarried. 3. Roswell, born October 14, 1764, died in 1794, without male issue. 4. Mabel. 5. Sarah. 6. Julia. III. Sarah, born March 16, 1722, who married November 2, 1737, EbenezerBishop. IV. HON. ELIHU, born April 8, 1731, eventual heir, of whom presently. V. Eliakim, born October 4, 1734, who married January 7, 1756, SusannahFrench, and died in Guilford, January 27, 1784; his widow dying at Claremont, N. H. He had issue; 1. Susan, born April 26, 1757. 2. Bula, born April 5, 1760, who died July 8,1776. 3. Mindwell, born May 25, 1763, who died April 11, 1785. 4. Eliakim, born November 8, 1765, who married first Prudence (???), whodied December 13, 1825, and secondly, October 7, 1829, Patty Davis, whodied May 20, 1852. He died December 16, 1834. Legal documents of this family absolutely demonstrate to have had norelationship at all. Fortunately these archives together with the Guilford Records, prevent confusion ofsuch sort. VI. Mabel, born October 8, 1739, who married October 20, 1757, TimothyMunger, of Guilford. General Register of the Society of Colonial Wars 1899-1902 STEVENS, CAPT. NATHANIEL, (???) 1747. Capt. of 6th Co., 7th Conn. Regt.,1741 SONS & DAUGHTERS OF THE PILGRIMS 7. The said Captain Nathaniel Stevens was the son of Lieut. NathanielStevens, born October 29, 1661, died October, 1709, and his wife Sarah,born 1652, died May 24, 1746. CHILDREN OF JOHN GRAVES (3) AND ELIZABETH CRUTTENDEN John Graves (12) was born 27 Feb. 1658/9,, in Guilford, CT, and died 1Dec. 1726,,. His will was admitted to probate 30 Dec. 1726. He marriedElizabeth Foote, daughter of Lt. Robert Foote and Sarah Potter ofBranford, CT, on 12 (or 6) Jan. 1684/5. She was born 8 March 1664 in thatpart of New Haven, CT, which in 1670 became part of Wallingford, and died14 May 1730. They lived in Guilford (now Madison), CT. John was made a freeman of Guilford Sept. 24 (no year given). When hemarried Elizabeth Foote in 1685, he installed his household goods in thehouse his father had built ten years before in Guilford (now Madison),called "the house at Tuxis Farms". When John's father died in 1695, John fell heir to his father'sleather-bound account book. The first date in the book was March 6,1678/9. His father had used it for commercial accounts only, but Johnused it for other information as well. (R-202, R-203) Children - Graves 41. Elizabeth Graves, b. 17 July 1686, d. 28 May 1687. 42. John Graves, b. 1 Feb. 1690, m(1) Elizabeth Stevens, 10 May 1714,m(2) Abigail Starr, 1728, m(3) Mrs. Naomi (Dudley) Blatchley, 1753, d. 17July 1763. 44. Ann Graves, b. 29 Aug. 1692. 45. Noadiah Graves, b. 4 Dec. 1694, m. Sarah ------, d. 24 July 1751. 46. Mindwell Graves, b. 4 Nov. 1696, m. Nathaniel Stevens, 11 (or 10)Nov. 1713, d. 11 Feb. 1771. 47.
