[Krug-Grunwald-Tree.GED] [Immel Johannes to Kathy.FTW] I believe this is the Adam Immel that was buried in the Town of ForestCemetery in Fond Du Lac County Wisconsin. The Adam Immel listed in theCemetery there has the same birth year of 1856. It showed that Adam diedin 1911. I don't know when this Adam Immel died, it is not showing thatinformation. I have a newspaper clipping from Adam's Obituary from Fond Du LacWisconsin. It reads: From the Fond du Lac commonwealth Reporter Newspaper "Adam Immel has tragic death" Drinks Acid Unknowingly, Dies Soon Afterward Family came to his aid Home Remedies and antidotes fail to save life of town of Empire Farmer Adam Immel, a well known and reputed well to do farmer of the town ofEmpire, is dead at his home as the result of drinking carbolic acid, which according to the family was taken through a mistake. Frominformation obtained at the home of the deceased this morning Mr. Immeldrank the poison believing that it was liquor, which he wanted formedicinal purposes. The tragedy occurred at 5:45 o' clock Sundayafternoon in the presence of the Immel family. During the afternoon Mr.Immel had been hunting, and returning from the trip had performed part ofthe nightly chores on the farm. While supper was being prepared he, it is said, went to the pantry toobtain a drink of rye liquor which he had brought home for a stimulant.Another bottle containing carbolic acid was in the pantry and it was fromthis that he drank. On entering the kitchen after he had taken thestuff, Mr. Immel is said to have exclaimed, What did I drink? I amburning up. With that remark it was found that the carbolic acid bottle was the onethat had been opened. The dying man was taken out on the lawn, andvarious home antidotes administered including hot milk, soda andalcohol. They were of no avail however, and death resulted in a half anhour. Physicians were summoned from the city but the man was beyondmedical aid when they reached him. District Attorney Hustling wasadvised of the death. He decided that no inquest was necessary as thedeath took place in the presence of the family. The deceased was 53years of age. Besides his wife he leaves four daughters, Mrs. W.Eickhoff, and the Misses Anna, Emma Katherine, all of Empire; and twosons, Louis and Walter Immel, both of Empire. He also leaves threesisters, Mrs. Joseph Kinkel, of this city; Mrs. J. Krug, of Forest andMrs. C. Undetch, of Chicago; and seven brothers, George and Henry, ofEmpire; John, William and August, of Allenton, Wis.; Christ, of Forest;and Herman Immel, of Spokane Wash. There is also one grandchild. Thefuneral will be held Thursday at 1 o'clock from the residence and at 2o'clock from St. Paul's church, Forest, Rev. J. Pohley officiating.Interment will be at the adjoining cemetery. The Immel farm is locatedabout nine miles from the city and is reach by taking the Dotyville road.
