Storm Lake Register - July 10, 1934 - Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Heschke, who died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Anna Sweet on Thursdaymorning July 5 at 11 o'clock, were held from the Sweet home and from St. Johns Lutheran church in Storm Lake Saturday afternoon. The Rev H.P.Schmidt officiated. Interment was in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Bearerswere six sons of the deceased.
Wilhelmine Augusta Weiland was born January 7, 1855 in Schwachenwalde,Bradenburg, Germany. On March 26, 1875 she was married to Mr Carl Heschke, who survives her and is confined to bed and was unable to be present at the funeral.
In the year 1889, Mr and Mrs. Heschke entered the long line of emigrants and came to America, locating on a farm near Hanover in Buena Vista county. In 1898 they moved on a farm near Storm Lake, since which time Mrs Heschke had been a member of St Johns church in Storm Lake. After afew years, she was taken ill with rheumatism. Since November 1, 1906 she had been confined to her bed, not even able to turn or feed herself.
Mrs Heschke passed into a sleep of unconsciousness from which she did not again awake. She breathed her last very quietly Thursday morning atabout 11 o'clock. At the time of her death she was 79 years, 5 months,and 28 days of age.
Surviving are the aged husband, Carl Heschke, 8 children: Gustave of near Benson, Minn., Mrs Anna Sweet of near Truesdale, Herman, of near Stacyville, Frank, of Hastings, Minn., Charley, of near Storm Lake and Arthur, of near Rembrandt. She also leaves 31 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Four children preceded the mother in death.
- Wm. Heschke of near Maynard, Minn., arrived Friday evening to attendthe funeral services of his mother, Mrs. Carl Heschke, which was held Saturday afternoon in the Lutheran church in Storm Lake. Gus Heschke anddaughters of near Benson, Minn., Frank Heschke of near Hastings, Minn., and Herman Heschke and daughter of Stacyville, were here Saturday toattend the funeral of Mrs. Carl Heschke.
