Sleepy Eye Herald 1961
Requiem funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's church this morning at 10 o'clock for Mrs. Mary Rubey, 93, pioneer Sleepy Eye lady, who passed away at Loretta hospital Saturday morning. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Leitschuh, Dr. V. J. Bruckbauer, Fred Michaelson, Henry R. Hillesheim, Arnold Losleben and P. J. Guldan. A resident of Sleepy Eye for many years, Mrs. Rubey had been living with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Schroepfer, New Ulm, the past few months. She had been hospitalized for two weeks. Deceased, nee Mary Petsinger, was born October 25, 1867 at Lake City and came to Sleepy Eye in 1883. She married at St. Mary's church in 1982 to Anton Rubey who passed away in 1942. Two sons preceded her in death. Mrs. Norbert Schroepfer (Agnes) is the only living child. There are four grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. The Rubey's lived in Stark Township until 1921 when they retired and moved to a home on East Elm. Mrs. Rubey was a member of St. Margaret's Society and and the Christian Mothers.
