Notes for this person

BIOGRAPHIE: Data from Julie A. GRANQUIST GRIMSTAD - August, 1995 Carl Gustaf ANDERSSON and his brother John were the first of the family to leave Sweden. They sailed to America on a German ship, arriving in 1878. They eventually arrived either in Chicago or Pennsylvania, (Recollections vary). They first sought work in the mines of Pennsylvania where the workers were on strike, but it was dangerous for scabs, so they left. They found work as carpenters, building Pullman Cars [Train] for Pullman in Chicago and saved enough money to bring their brothers, sisters and parents to the U.S. Their parents arrived in 1882. They later moved the family to a farm in Lyon County, Minnesota.

Alsnas Sweden is now known as Ammeberg. It has a population of 500 and is in the southern part of County Narike.
