Notes for this person
Nachrichten: From Dorothy Cordes: Anton Forster came from Germany when he was 14 years old with relatives. They settled in Wisconsin. He went with a Gresl family to Lanham, Kansas. He married Anna Brie (in Wisconsin) and had 2 children, Clara and George. When his first wife died he remarried to Barbara Weber,( who had moved to Kansas from Wisconsin with Wenzel and Mary Gresl.) They had 4 children: Mary Ann, John, Joseph and Rose.The Gresl family that Mom referred to was Wenzel and Anna (Weber) Gresl, who then moved on to Olympia, WA. When Anton's first wife died, he then married Anna's sister Barbara Weber, who had also stayed in Lanham, and hadn't moved to WA with her sister's family. The Gresl family had emigrated on the same boat as Anton and his sister Anna.The Forster family was from Springenberg, Austria, which is now part of the Czeck Republic and known as Sprymberk-Pomezi. It is on the border of the CR and Bavaria. They considered themselves as being from Bohemia but were German-speaking, not Czech-speaking.== It is your great grandfather === ;-))S.2 Forster Anton, * 08.April 1853 Springenberg # 18 Pf: Hirschau, * RegNr.5, S.2Anton wurde am 08.April geboren,getauft am selben TagVater: Georg Forster, Bauer in Springenberg # 18, ehelicher Sohn des+ Anton Forster, Bauer daselbst u.d. He really enjoyed the picture you sent. He hadn't seen the Forsters for so long. He said Anton Forster moved from Wisconsin to Hanover, Kansas and then to Andale, Kansas. His son Joe farmed west of my grandfather's farm on Anton's farm when Anton retired, and his son George farmed east of my grandfathers farm. John moved to western Kansas. George married Frances Ketzner; John married Anna Bean; Joe didn't marry;
