Southampton, 5 The Marina, Western Esplanade
5 The Marina was one of a block of 16 terraced houses
on the east side of Western Esplanade, between
Manchester Street at the north end and Bargate Street at the south.
The houses were opposite the Pirelli Cable Works,
in fact No 6 was used as an office by Pirelli’s during the war.
The occupant of No 5 was William Edwards.
No’s 1 - 4 have no occupants in 1945.
The northern end of Marine Terrace is at Southampton Central Station
and the southern end is at Royal Pier where Red Funnel Ferries were based.
