From letter from Robert M. Sandfort: The first Sandfort immigrant was Hermann Heinrich Sandfort, who came with his wife, Catharina Margaretha Beckebrede, from the port of Bremen in Northwestern Germany aborad the ship Olbers to the port of New Orleans, landing on December 8, 1836. Their names appear on the passenger list of that vessel in the microfilm records of the Natl. Archives. They had sixchildren, the oldest of whom was Anna Maria Sandfort.
