J.T.Barlow & Co was established in 1865 as Legler & Barlow. It was incorporated in 1905 as the J. T. Barlow Company. In 1913 they moved to their new fire-proof building of 66,000 sq ft at the corner of Third and Sears in
Dayton. The cause was the great flood which had destroyed their building at #35-37 N. Main St. The new 6 story building was fully equipped with all the latest resources for a dry-good wholesaler. It even had its own rail spur
going to the building.
