Studierte Germanistik in Prag, München, Oxford und
Cambridge; trat nach dem 1. Weltkrieg 1919 in die väterliche
Firma ein, die er später ganz übernahm. Den Großhandel
für Drogen und Arzneiwaren baute er aus und begann
mit der Herstellung von Arzneiwaren.1945 aus der Tschechoslowakei
vertrieben, gründete er in Blaubeuren, der Heimat seiner
Frau, die Arzneimittelfabrik Ludwig Merckle GmbH.
Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender bei Otto Stumpf AG, Aufsichtsrat
bei Portlandzementwerde Heidelberg AG. Originalölbild
aus späteren Jahren hängt in Hohen Luckow, aus dem
Besitz von Adolf Merckle.
