Johnstown High class of 1946 U.S.Army 1946-48 Attended Shippensburg State Teachers College 1949-51, Member of Grace Luth., Johnstown, PA. Johnstown T-D Obit SAUERS - Paul J. Jr. "Tiny," Johnstown, died March 5, 2004. He was 75.Born at home in Johnstown on May 3, 1928, he was the son of the late PaulJ. Sr. and Marion (Slagle) Sauers. He was graduated from GreaterJohnstown High School, Class of 1946. Upon graduation, he enlisted in theU.S. Army and served as a private first class in Korea. Upon returninghome in 1948, he attended Shippensburg College on the G.I. Bill andstudied education for two years. Mr. Sauers worked for Quaker Sales Corp.and Standard Slag before retiring in 1991 as a lab technician from L.L.Whittaker of Johnstown. He had served on the Lower Yoder Township SewerAuthority, was a member of Johnstown Rod & Gun Club, and a lifelongmember of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chandler Avenue. He alsoattended St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Powers Street, with hiswife and children for many years. Mr. Sauers is survived by his wife of45 years, the former Mary Jane Hlavaty of Johnstown; daughters, BarbaraSauers of Easton, Md., and Paula Jean Rehn and her husband, Mark Rehn, ofWexford; sons, Paul J. Sauers III of York, Pa., and William F. Sauers andhis wife, Kathleen, also of York, Pa.; and sister, Betty Jane (Sauers)Brown, and her husband, Bill Brown, of Johnstown; also six grandchildren,Allison and Ian Rehn, both of Wexford; Steven, Andrew and Joseph Sauers,all of York; and Margaret Anne Smith of Easton; and several cousins andother relatives. Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. onSunday at William T. Hindman Funeral Home, 146 Chandler Ave., wherefuneral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, the Rev. KatherineDouglass officiating. Burial will be held at Richland Cemetery. In lieuof flowers the family asks that donations be made to Grace EvangelicalLutheran Church.
