Sein Taufpate muss wohl sein leiblicher Vater gewesen sein, denn er nennt sich später "Adolph Wilhelm Wendeler genannt Bierlenberg" und setzt 1852 in einem Gerichtsurteil die Änderung seines Namens von Wendeler" in "Bierlenberg" durch.
