Name originally Rödgen and pronounced RE-TIN. From parish record from Margret Stümpel(+) from the Historical Society of Geseke via email from Holger Strugholt on Westphalia mailing list. Bought property in Luystown, MO. near Frankenstein, MO. Enlisted in Civil War (Union) on Sept.. 23, 1862 from St. Louis, MO. Rank: Private. 17th Regiment, Missouri Infantry. Died at Memphis, Tenn. hospital on March 29, 1863 of diarreha (dysentary?).
