Ludwig "Louis" was shot and killed in a brawl in the tavern of Peter Clemens at St. Nazianz on October 19, 1904. He was a well driller from Kiel.An argument started between Louis Bahrs and Frand Birkle over a glass of beer. Birkle is said to have pulled a gun and shot Bahrs twice, killing him instantly. During January of 1905 Birkle faced a murder charge, but the jury came back with a verdict of guilty of manslaughter. He was sentenced to from four to seven years and later paroled. He ended up killing his wife Blanche in 1935.

Auf diesen merkwürdigen Umstand bin ich bei der (erfolgreichen) Suche nach den Vorfahren eines Amerikaners gestossen. Die vermutete Verwandschaft bestätigte sich zwar nicht, aber dennoch sind inzwischen viele Nachfahren dieser Allscheider Auswanderer zum Datenbestand hinzugekommen, so dass ich diesen hiermit zur Verfügung stellen möchte.
