In the register of deaths the name is written as "Caspar".

In the register of marriages there is an entry where the name is written as "Kaspar". This entry reports the marriage of Felix Schmalz (as son of Caspar) and Johanna Graus as follows:

"Steinbach, in the year 1830, on May 12, in the morning at 8 o'clock were married in the name of the lord Felix Schmalz, unmarried legitimate son of Kaspar Schmalz and Thekla Liebich of Varnhalt, and the unmarried Johanna Kraus, legitimate daughter of Franz Xaver Kraus and Gertrud Wörner of Gallenbach."

There is another source out of the year 1804 (marriage of Caspar with Thekla Liebich) where the spelling "Caspar" is used.

So, both spellings are possible, i.e. using "C" or "K". It seems "Caspar" may be an elder spelling of this name.
