MRS. MARY DIMPEL
-
Mrs. Mary Mack Dimpel was born in Fairfield County, Ohio Dec. 8, 1840,and fell asleep in Lancaster, Fairfield County, Ohio October 6, 1906,aged 65 years, 9 months and 28 days. It appears as though she was ledback to the place where God had first revealed to her the light of day,to lay life's cares and struggles down and fly away to the spirit world.
On November 26, 1865, she was united in holy wedlock with GeorgeDimpel. This divine relation was blessed by two sons and two daughterscoming into the family circle; also a foster child, Newton Kurts, whofound here a father and mother, home care and training from the age offive years.
Her husband preceeded her across the mystic river of dissolution,January 29, 1895. She leaves to mourn her hometaking, all the childrenof the home and a host of friends.
In the community of her birth, she became an infant member of the St.Thomas Lutheran Church in Madison Township, Fairfield County, Ohio byHoly Baptism. When she was 14 years of age, she confessed her baptismalcovenant and by confirmation was received into communicant membership ofthe church.
On October 31, 1858 she became a charter member of St. John'sEvangelical Lutheran Church of the Leipsic charge, where she was a loyalmember until her demise. Here she bore the fruit of a faithful anddevout follower of Christ. As a regular and attentive hearer of the Wordof God as it was preached and a faithful receiver of the Lord's Supper asit was administered, she grew into Christian character according to thedivinely provided means of grace. Here she also developed kindness, thegentleness, the cheerfulness, and the motherly virtues which those whoknew her best will continue to feel in their influence and power whilethey live. Though in the realms of the dead, she lives in the memoriesof her most intimate circles, and bears witness to the triumph of themighty gospel of Eternal Life, and beckons all who knew her, to follow inthe steps of the Master till the journey ends in the glory land.
"No language can express the power, beauty, heroism and majesty of amother's love. It shrinks not where man cowers, and grows stronger whenman faints, and over the wastes of wordly fortune sends the radiance ofits quenchless fidelity like a star in the heavens."
Interment was made in the new Christ Cemetery, after services wereheld in the Leipsic Lutheran Church, conducted by C.A. Hackenberg.
