Joshua married Susan Dietrich in 1859. They had four children, two ofwhom survived. In the family bible, Myrtle S. Sell noted that Joshuapaid $12 for family plot in the Mt. Olive(t?) cemetery in Hanover, PA.Joshua was a tailor of men's clothing. He had shop in Littletown, PAlater moving to Hanover, PA. His shop there was located on CarlisleStreet where the Hanover Savings Fund now stands. It was the old PostOffice building where we (Myrtle) children enjoyed playing around. Helater moved to the Bodenhammer Building on the Square until heretired. He was a Carter Member of the Methodist Episcopal Church inHanover, PA. All of his forebearers were great Methodists. He ledthe singing and samg so loud, that he could be heard as far away asMiddle Street two blocks. The church was located on FredierickStreet. He was a member of the "Odd Fellows" and he always votedRepublican. He had a very bad accident on Carlisle Street, was runover by a horse. He was about 70 years old then. Had head and leginjuries. He always wore a beard until five yuears before he diedvery suddenly at the home of Myrtle and John Sell in Hughesville, PAon October 21, 1921. Joshua was so good and kind to everyone. Being quite deaf, it washard for him to converse with people. He loved to tell a story andjokes. His ship was the twon loafing place for men to gather in theevening to discuss the problems of the day. Some of his friends were"Charlie Geiselman" (a farmer), "William Helsel" (a newspaper editor),"Tommy" the shoemaker, who had a brilliant mind, and "George WilliamBlair", a local underatker. As each one of us became old enough to entertain our friendsm webrouhgt them home and had some memorable parties in the parlor.Mother and Dad loved to sit by the stove in the kitchen and enjoy thelaughter and music on the organ, later a piano. Sometimes Fatherwould go in and tell them stories. Mother was rather reserved butfriendly with everyone. She was always ready with refreshments. Shewould not allow arguing or fighting in the home. We owe them so muchfor a ______???
