Property of Henry Beecher, late Collector of Germanytwp., a cow & sundry articles of household & kitchen furniture." [In this newspaper notice, "late Collector of Germany twp." was a1700's phrase that meant he was "formerly of Germany township", notnecessarily deceased. Apparently Henry had moved and his possessionshad to be sold to settle debts.] IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. I, Henry Beeher, of the town of Petersburg,Germany Twp., in the of York and the state of PA, being frail inbody, but of sound mind and memory, do this twenty-third day ofFebruary in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred andninety five, make and publish this my last will and testament asfollows, to wit: principally of all I commit my immortal soul to Godand my Creator and Redeemer, and my body to the Earth to be buried ina decent manner at the discretion of my Executors and as concerning myworldly estate which I am possessed of, I give and devise in themanner and form following, that is to say, first of all I order, willand allow all my debts to be well and truly paid. ................... Secondly, I devise and bequeath to my wife, Catherine Beeher, so muchof my household furniture as she may judge necessary and sufficientfor housekeeping, to keep herself and my son Peter Beeher, to beholden of her absolutely together with one cow, if I have any such atmy decease, and whatever may be herein to her bequest afterwards. Thirdly, I further order, will and allow my executor herein afternamed to sell at public vendue immediately after my decease all andsingular the residue of my personal goods and house and lots of groundin the town of Petersburg, for the best price which can be hadtherefore and the house and lots of ground when sold to convey to thepurchaser in the same right and estate that now hold therein, whichtitle so made and executed by the Executors on any one of them in casethe other be dead or removed to any considerable distance, shall bevalid in law to all intents and purposes as if I myself had executedthe same at this present time and the money arising there from to befor the use of keeping and maintaining my wife, and my son PeterBeeher, and to be paid to my said wife for that purpose and she tokeep and take care of my said son Peter during her natural life but incase the interest will not come in time for that purpose, or not besufficient, that then so much of the principal shall be taken as shallbe sufficient for that purpose so she may have a decent and sufficientliving for herself and my son Peter during her natural life out of myestate and further I order will and allow that all the notes and bondswhich will be due to me, shall as soon as recovered and received by myExecutors be put to interest and the interest thereof appropriated tothe purpose aforesaid [expect the bond which I have assigned to mygrandson, John Winteroth, which shall be for his use and behestforever, when he arrives at age in law, but in case he should diebefore he arrives at age, then the money of the said bond shall bejudged as part of my estate and appropriated accordingly]. Thirdly, I order will and direct that after my wife's decease and incase my son Peter be still living, that there be one hundred pounds ofthe remainder of my estate shall first of all be taken andappropriated for the use of keeping and maintaining my son PeterBeeher, during his natural life and the residue to be equally dividedto and amongst my surviving children or their legal representatives;if dead, the representatives of those dead only taking their parentsshare. Lastly, I do constitute ordain and appoint my sons John Beeher andWilliam Beeher, executors of this my last will and testament in trustto execute the same agreeable to the true intent and meaning thereofand to take care that no waste be committed in the expenditure of theinterest allotted for the use of my wife and son, Peter, for theirmaintenance. Yet always allowing them a good and sufficient living soas they may live comfortable and decent. Enjoining my said executors, always to take security sufficient for the money belonging to myestate that no part thereof be lost, and in case of any defaulttherein, by neglect the said executors be answerable. In testimony, etc. [signed] Henry Beucker Witnessed:R. McIlhinny Adam Wintrod, Jr. in German,Samuel Bringman [?] man named in German did not appear when the will was probated 28 Jan.1807 His inventory list #252 now at the Adams Historical Society listsshoemaker's tools. Henry's will was not filed until 28 Jan 1807, some time after hisdeath. According to Arthur Weaner of the Adams Co. Historical Society,"sometimes a will was not filed until the widow died." Our Y-DNA testing is proving that many 1700's ancestors in southcentral PA are related and use these surna: Becher, Bicher, Beecher,Beacher, and Bucher. Following are related ancestors that we cannot connect into one treeyet. Engel Bucher died in 1778 in Cocalico Township, Lancaster Co. Circa1800 his descendants use surname Bicher (and some still do today) butby the mid 1800's most switch to Beecher or Beacher.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/425.htm Henry Buecher (Bucher) died in 1795 and is likely born about the sametime as Engel. He could be the Johan Heinrich Bucher listed next toJohan Engel Bucher on the ship Neptune in 1751. All of his laterdescendents use surname Beecher. His tree:http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/8597.htm John Beecher (1757-1842) lived in Adams and Y-DNA tests prove he isrelated in some way to Engel, but cannot be his son (who is anotherJohn in Lancaster Co.) Found in early records as Bucher and by 1800 asBeecher, this John is believed to be a son on Henry above.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/3276.htm John Beecher (1759-1818) is Beecher on his tombstone but signed hiswill Johannes Bucher and lived nearby in Lancaster . Y-DNA testing hasproven he is related in some way to Engel. All of his laterdescendants use surname Beecher, although early records show Becher.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/4327.htm John Bicher (1791-1847) is buried in Muddy Creek Lutheran Church whereEngel's records are also found. Y-DNA testing proves he is related toEngel, and is likely his grandson. His descendents still use surnameBicher and live today in Lebanon, Lancaster and Berks counties.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/2254.htm Emanuel Becher (1776-1868) Found in the records at Trinity LutheranChurch in New Holland, Lancaster Co. PA at the same time as therecords for children of John Beecher b.1759 and Engel Bucher d.1788.Many of Emanuel's descendants use surname Beecher, some use Bechertoday. A 1929 history written about John Beecher b.1759 mentions hisfather is an older Emanuel Beecher, and this could be that Emanuel'sson. http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/4462.htm Peter Biesser (1730-1791) is in the Muddy Creek Lutheran Churchrecords where Engel is also found. He is old enough to be Engel'sbrother. http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/12017.htm Peter Bicher (1765-1858) lived in Adamstown, Lancaster near otherknown relatives. We do not know who his father is.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/3202.htm William Beaker is listed in the 1790 Census in Lancaster, withoutchildren so he could be very old and a brother of Engel, or young anda grandson or son who hadn't started his family.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/8944.htm Benjamin Beecher (c.1766 - 1841) is likely the brother of John Beecherb.1759 who married Albrecht. Benjamin is found one census page beforeJohn in 1800 in Caernarvon Township living adjacent to the Neiswenderand Segner families who marry John's son/daughter. Benajmin also isbaptizing children at the same time as John at both Trinity Lutheranin New Holland and in Rev. Illing's register.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/2280.htm Benjamin Bicher (1797-1876) This Benjamin lived in South Lebanon Twp.near the Lancaster border. We know about three sons: John, Benjamin,George. Probably a grandson of Engel Bucher, since his son Jacob alsowent to Lebanon? Descendants in this line use surnames Bicher,Biecher, and Beecher. http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/2402.htm William Beecher. At First Reformed Church, Lancaster this WilliamBeecher and wife Maria baptize Jacob b. Feb 1800 and Anna Maria b. 28Dec 1804. Both children die young. William was likely born circa1760-70 and could be a son of Engel or John Beecher b.1759.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/7983.htm Y-DNA testing has proven the above family line is not related to otherLancaster lines including: Hans Bucher of Cocalico Township, Lancaster Co.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/2196.htm Hans Martin Bucher of Donegal Township, Lancaster Co.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/2228.htm Peter/Martin/John Bucher of Hanover Township, today's Lebanon Co.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/2222.htm Nicholas Bucher of York and Adams Co.http://www.searchtrees.com/tree/2934.htm Please read "Releative To Research" below for a list of others relatedto Henry Buecher.
