James Edgar Brown was from Baltimore MD. Followed the woodworkingindustry from wagon wheels to furniture, and at one time, supportedhis family cutting stone for a man who sold cemetery stones, a tradehe had learned from his father. (His father had come to America fromIreland to supervise cutting a railroad tunnel through solid rock. Hemet james' mother, whose husband had been killed in the Civil War, andsettled near Greensboro, NC. She was of Scotish descent). Jamesspent his last years in Williamsport, PA where he had gone to be nearhis oldest daughter. He died August 27, 1956, following a series ofheart attacks. He had regained his faith in the Roman catholic Churchand is buried in St. Boniface Church Cemetery, Willimasport, PA.heartattack “Uncle Jimmy”. The family lived in Phila. during the Depressio n andtheir home was on 20th, overlooking Shibe Park Stadium whe re baseballwas played. They had bleachers on the roof where se ats were rentedduring games. Pictures of the time include bab e Rith on the field.The house was lost during the depression a nd James went to work forthe WPA in Lycoming County, PA. He li ved in boarding houses whileworking there and ocntinued to liv e there after Carrie died and heretired.
