In the same manner as Hrolf, Malahjulc became possessed of Toesini andConches; and is referred to in old records as Malahulcinus de Toecsini(or Toechini). He had issue Hugo de Toecsini, who became Lord ofCavalcamp in Nuestria, and had two sons, Ralf, and Hugo, Archbishop ofRouen, 942-980. Some genealogies have Haldrich as son of Eystein Glumra, Earl ofTrondheim. Others list him as son of Hrolf, Earl of Trondheim. In the Scandinavian Sagas relating to the latter half of the EighthCentury-750-800, A.D.-whichmay be regarded as the period in whichreliable Norse History begins, frequentmention may be found of theViking Hrolf Nefja Jarl and his ancestors in Throndjem and the Maerasof Norway ; and in later centuries, of his descendants in Normandy andEngland as well. According to these Sagas, and the earliest Norman accounts, HrolfNefja had at least one son Malahjulc; and a daughter, Hild or RagnhildThe daughter married Rognvald Maera-Jarl, who, in return forassistance rendered by him to Harald (or Harold) Fair Hair, in theconquest of Norway, was made chief ruler over not only the two Maeras;but also Ramsdal. They hadthree sons and a daughter.
