Notizen zu dieser Person
In general, there is some confusion about John M. Hill's ancestry. Thecensus records clearly state that he was born about 1865 or 1865 inMissouri and that both of his parents were born in Tennessee. Thispoints clearly to John Hill and his wife Martha, who are the onlymatches to these information in both the 1870 as well as the 1880Census. Internet resources are somehow contradictory about John Hill and hiswife. Some attribute only one wife Charity Melissa to him, some onlyMartha (Mahala) Jane, some actually make Charity his second wife. Following is clearly established: 1. John Hill is the son of Joseph Hill. The 1880 as well as the 1900census lists him together with his brother Eli, who was a son ofJoseph Hill, too. 2. Martha cannot be John Hill's first wife since she appears in both1870 and 1880. However, the 1860 Census does not name a wife for him.The 1880 Census also lists a stepdaughter with the last name Long.Martha Hill apparantly was a widow and had before been married to aMr. Long. 3. His wife in the 1850 Census is named Mahala J. This must be hisfirst wife. This allows the following conclusions: 1. John Hill married twice. 2. His first wife was Mahala J. Bond who was alive in 1850 and diedbefore 1860 3. He lived as a widower for some time until he remarried Martha Long. 4. A marriage to Charity Malissa Bond cannot be verified. It seemsthat the John Hill who married this Charity Bond was a differentperson. These information have so far been incoporated into these researchresults.
