N.C. deed 13-16 July 29, 1814 Between Lettis Hill, John Hill, Elizabeth Hill, Joseph Hill, EnochYork, and Nancy his wife, Jane Hill, James Hill all of the State ofTennessee and County of Grainger of the one part and John Dennis ofthe said State and County..Water of Polecat Creek containing fiftyacres ..entered 11th of------1792. Signed: Lettis X Hill, John X Hill, Joseph Hill, Enoch and Nancy York,Jane X Hill, James X H ill Wit: Thomas Dennis, Levi Dennis, Edward Dennis Randolph Co., N.C. deed 13-6 July 29, 1814 Same as the above deed, but Waters of Polecat Creek contain 250 acres. The above info tells us that Joseph Hill, married to Lettice can notbe Joseph Hill married to Margaret McMillian. These deeds indicatethat this Joseph Hill died and the family is selling out in 1808. Thefirst deed has Lettice and two children signing (only two that are ofage), and the 1814 deed has all the children signing, for they are allof age by 1814. These deeds also let us know that Lettice was alive aslate as 1814, where the other Joseph married Margaret McMillian in1799 in Rockbridge.
