Raymond R. Ahlf, 86, passed away Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A gathering for family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Waco Memorial Funeral Home. Raymond was born May 11, 1924, in San Francisco, Calif., to Herman and Emma Ahlf. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather, who devoted his life to helping others. His sense of humor carried him throughout his life even during his battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ricky and Chris; and two brothers, Herman and Eddie. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia; son, David Ahlf of Hewitt; two daughters, Donna Perin and husband, Al, of California and Nancy Neely and husband, Phil, of Waco; step-son, Steve Canny and wife, Kathy, of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Brandon and Nicole Neely of Waco, Isabella Derin of California, and Jordan Canny of Pennsylvania. The family would like to thank Dr. Pat Pryor and Dr. Anderson at Texas Oncology, MD Anderson, and everyone at Providence Hospice, for their love and caring. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, MD Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, or a charity of your choice.
