MRS. GENEVA KINER Ida Grove Pioneer Record August 13, 1924
Geneva Johnston was born in Cedar county, Iowa on Dec. 25, 1871, and died on August 7, 1924, at her home in Sioux Falls, S.D. She came to Ida Grove with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Johnston, where she grew to womanhood and was married to H. A. Kiner, December 25, 1891, the ceremony being performed by Rev. A. E. Smith, and during the past twenty years they have made their home in Sioux Falls.
To the above marriage twochildren were born—a son, and a daughter, the daughter having died when eight years of age. Besides her husband, she leaves one son—Carl F., her mother, Mrs. Johnston, and three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Gould and Mrs. Winifred Green, Of Ida Grove, and Mrs. Maud Careth, of Chicago.
Mrs. Kiner was a member of the FirstM. E. Church, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and the secretary of the Ladies Aid Society,and took a great interest in church work.
Last January she had an attack ofthe “Fin,” from which she never fully recovered.
She attended high school,and for several years taught school in Ida county, previous to her marriage.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30, in the Methodist church,conducted by William N. Yates. Interment was made in the Ida grove cemetery.
Short services were held at the late home, Thursday evening, at 7:30, by Rev.Gage, of Elk Point, S.D., an old friend of the family.
