Mr. James Albert Gammon Memorial services for Mr. James Albert Gammon will beat 10 a.m. Sunday, October 15, 2006, in the Marionville I.O.O.F. Cemetery, under the direction of Williams Funeral Home of Marionville. James Albert Gammon died May 15, 2005, in Doctors Hospital in Modesto, California, due to respiratory complications. He was 87. Cremation followed. Mr. Gammon was born on May 31, 1918, in Springfield, Missouri, and graduated from Springfield High School in January of 1936. Mr. Gammon lost his father, James Albert Sr., and his mother, Anna Viola Bear Gammon, by the time he was 16 years old. He was an Eagle Scout. He attended Drury College, Missouri School of Mines, the University of Kansas, and received a B.A. from Oklahoma City University in 1958. He spent his working life inthe aviation industry. He held a commercial pilot and flight engineer ratings, but started at TWA where he was an A&P mechanic, and moved to Consolidated Vulteewhere he produced and inspected gun turrets. He joined the FAA in 1946 and retired in Kansas City after 26 years in 1972. He served in the Army Air Corp in North Africa during World War II until he was honorably discharged in December of 1945. Mr. Gammon married Rosemary Tharp Sullivan in 1942, who preceded him in death in 2000. He is survived by his four children, James Allen Gammon of Riverbank, Ronald Lester Gammon of Lafayette, Garry Brent Gammon of Half Moon Bay, and Mary Anne Gammon of Davis. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Gammon liked working with his hands and had a special skillat it. He could fix and repair anything mechanical for his friends and family.Most of all, Mr. Gammon was dedicated to his family and was known for his even temper and facing life`s challenges without complaint.
