While researching the children of Miles Hodges McWilliams and Sarah Spears, I've come up with conflicting information on their daughters. Here's what I have thus far:

Lydia McWilliams (1799-1858) married Drury Dean (1785-1858) in 1822 in Alabama. Drury Dean is mentioned in Miles Hodges McWilliams' will. I'm assuming the custom at this time was for the husbands to be mentioned in the will, representing the daughters. This same action occurred for Martha's spouse, William Deen, and Matilda's spouse, John Walston. The following information was posted on Ancestry by Bill Wilson: "Drury had 9 children by his first wife, Mary. She died 11 Dec 1821 fromcomplications of childbirth as her 9th child, Drury Jr. was born 27 Nov 1821. Shortly after her death Drury Sr. married Lydia McWilliams born 22 May 1798. He had 9 children by her, making a total of 18 by both wives. He died 11 Oct 1858 athis home which was about 3/4 miles west of the Horace Wallace Place. His secondwife Lydia died 2 days later, 13 Oct 1858. It is believed that they died of Yellow Fever. They were buried at Concord Cemetery." Lydia is on the 1850 Census inConecuh, Alabama with Drury Dean and their children, as well as her two sisters, Matilda and Nancy.
Mary "Polly" McWilliams (1806-1900) seemingly remained single throughout her life. She is listed on the 1850 Census of Walton County, Florida with her mother, Sarah, brother, John, and sister, Rebecca. On this sameCensus, Mary's brothers, George, William, James and Thomas also appear with their respective families. On the 1860 Census of Santa Rosa, Florida, Mary is listed with her mother, Sarah, brother, John, and sister, Rebecca. The 1870 Censuslists a Mary Deen living with John McWilliams and Matilda McWilliams. The lastCensus I found for her was the 1880 in Lampasas, Texas. Mary is listed as a McWilliams with her two sisters, Matilda and Rebecca. I cannot make the connectionwith a Mary Deen for 1870. Drury Dean died in 1858 and William Deen had remarried by 1863. Mary is listed in her father's will.
Sarah "Sally" McWilliams (1808-1838) - I could not find Sarah listed on any of the Census records with theother family members. Since she is mentioned in her father's will, she must have died shortly after her father's death.
Martha "Patsy" McWilliams (1813-1858) married William Deen (1809-1879) in 1835 in Butler, Alabama. William Deen ismentioned in his father-in-law's will. According to additional records, William married Eliza Jane Scruggs after Martha's death. Martha is listed on the 1850Census in Butler, Alabama with William and their 8 children. On the 1860 Census, William is listed with 6 of their children in Butler, Alabama.
Rebecca McWilliams (1817-1884) seemingly remained single throughout her life. She is listed on the 1850 Census of Walton County, Florida with her mother, Sarah, brother,John, and sister Mary. On this same Census, Rebecca's brothers, George, William, James and Thomas also appear with their respective families. On the 1860 Census of Santa Rosa, Florida, Rebecca is listed with her mother, Sarah, brother, John, and sister, Mary. I was unable to locate her on the 1870 Census. The lastCensus I found for her was the 1880 in Lampasas, Texas. Rebecca is listed withher two sisters, Matilda and Mary. Rebecca is listed in her father's will.
Matilda "Tilda" McWilliams (1822-1900) married John Walston (?). John Walston ismentioned in Miles Hodges McWilliams' will. I have not been able to locate anyinformation on John Walston in the areas where Matilda and her family lived. There is another John Walston in the Ancestry records around the time Matilda's John Walston would have been born, but those records occur in the Lauderdale, Alabama area, which is not an area Matilda and her family lived. Matilda appears on the 1850 Census in Conecuh, Alabama with her sisters, Nancy, and Lydia and herfamily with Drury Dean. I have not been able to locate Matilda on the 1860 Census. In 1870, she appears in Conecuh, Alabama with her brother, John, and her sister listed as Mary Deen. The last one is the 1880 Census in Lampasas, Texas that lists sisters Rebecca and Mary as single and Matilda McWilliams as widowed. Why would she use her maiden name and list herself as widowed? John Walston ismentioned in Miles Hodges McWilliams' will.
Nancy McWilliams (1826-?) appears on the 1850 Census in Conecuh, Alabama living with her sisters, Matilda, and Lydia and her family with Drury Dean. On the 1860 Census in Conecuh, Alabama, there is a N M McWilliams listed with Denny Deen, M Deen, H V Deen, W F Deen and JD Deen. This Census shows N M McWilliams born about 1825, which is close to Nancy's age. The M Deen that is listed as Denny's wife was born about 1822, and the only McWilliams' daughter that is near that birth year is Matilda. Denny Deen could be interpreted as Drury Dean since the birth year is also the same as Drury Dean's, but he and Lydia died in 1858 from yellow fever. I couldn't find the 1870 Census for Nancy. There's an 1880 Census in Conecuh, Alabama that listsa Nancy McWilliams as an aunt to the head of household, which is a T. G. and Nancy Kelly. The birth year is close to Nancy's, 1825. However, I'm not sure of the family connection with T. G. and Nancy Kelly. Nancy is not mentioned in herfather's will, which is puzzling since she was alive after his death.
Anyonewith additional information that could possibly connect some of the pieces to this puzzle, please contact me through Ancestry.
