Title Hartenstein gesamte Daten
Description

Dear Mr. Hartenstein: My name is Kathryn D. Struck and my maiden name is 'Harrenstein'. I am the daughter of Alvin Harrenstein, born in Iowa, USA, and lived from 1919-2011. I have been tracing the Harrenstein family tree for quite a long time. I know that the spelling of our name changed the further back in time I searched. The last and earliest connection I can find is Ulrich Berend Hardensteen from the Leer, Germany area. I have tried many similar spellings but cannot seem to find any more Hardensteens. Thus I tried the Hartenstein family. I see many names that are in my family tree, but no person earlier than Ulrich B. Hardensteen. Do you know of family trees that could help me? Are there variant spellings that I should check? The family was/is from Ostfriesland--although many immagrated to the USA in the 19th century--the farm land in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and other states (then territories) was deep and black and the landscape reminded them of home. I have been to Northern Germany, and the Netherlands, and the land is truly familiar in terrain. Any advice you can give to me would be very much appreciated. I will willingly share my family tree (I have not uploaded it yet), but if you need names, I have done a great deal of research--but stalled in 1728, when Ulrich B Hardensteen was born. Thanks for you time and for letting me scroll through your very extensive family tree! Regards, Kathryn Struck; Dubuque, Iowa; USA
