Maria Hedwig wurde im ehemalig deutschem Posen in Wischen geboren. Wischen heißt seit 1945 Wyszanowo und lag im Kreis Meseritz. Maria Hedwig muss wohl nach Mecklenburg während der Ostflucht gekommen sein. Bestätigt ist das allerdings nicht. Während der so genannten Ostflucht sind viele Einwohner Posens in die Industrieländer gezogen oder nach Amerika ausgewandert, da in Posen eine hohe Arbeitslosigkeit herrschte.
