William was born into a farming family in Randolph Co, IN. The family moved to Monroe, IN where they operated a store. He met his future wife in the store and maried her on her 18th birthday. They lived for a few years in Benzonia, Benzonia Co., MI where he was the Sherif for two years. The townspeople took up a collection to purchase a silver plated bread tray for them to show their appreciation for his work. Their first son, Harvey was born here. They operated a rooming house and a maid cut bread on the bread tray leaving a great scar through the face of the gibson girl pictured on the tray. They moved to Ann Arbor, Wastenauw Co, MI where they owned and operated a meat market. Ken was born there. Will, as his wife called him, was also a conductor on the trolly. They moved to a farm outside of Limon, CO. where Ken had to ride a horse to school. Then they moved back to a farm in Jay Co., IN. Their son Ken invited them to come live next to them in the Town of Maine, NY but before their new house could be built he died of pnemonia.
