August Witte, der leibliche Vater ihres Sohnes, bestritt die Vaterschaft und behauptete, dass noch zwei andere Strodehner Burschen als Vater in Frage kämen. Minna war über diese Verleumdung sehr erbost. Als August Witte einige Jahre später sich doch erbot, sie zu heiraten, schlug sie dieses Angebot aus. Immerhin anerkannte Witte die Vaterschaft.
