LESTER BUNGE Bettendorf-Lester L. Bunge, 82, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, July 23, 1996 , at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home, Davenport , with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mr. Bunge owned and operated Bunge Heating and Air Conditioning from 1946-1973. He was a civilian gunner at Rock Island arsenal from 1940-45, one of only three civilian gunners in the entire United States during World War II.He was born June 6, 1914, in Bettendorf, a son of Max and Balbena Hesse Bunge. He married Madeleine M Schmiers Aug. 5, 1933, in Davenport. He was a member of St. Mary's Church; a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Third Degree; and founder, developer and past president of Senior Centers in Gainesville, Mo., and Oxford Junction, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family or St. Mary's church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Marvin Stolley, Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Doris Bunge, Fulton, Ill., and Max and Janice Bunge and Craig andGail Bunge, all of Davenport; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Mr. Bunge was preceded in death by three sisters.

Description | um 2009 veröffentlichte ich die erste Version meines Vorfahrenbaumes in GEDBAS. Heute 2014 kann man diese als überholt bezeichen und ersetzen durch die neue Version von 2014. Diese Datenbank enthällt möglichst alle Vorkommen von Schmiers weltweit in zwei großen Familiensträngen, die beide aus Westfalen stammen. Zusätzlich, wenn alles klappte, auch einige Streufunde, die noch nicht zugeordnet werden konnten. Mein Zweig stammt aus dem Kreis Steinfurt, ist in Westfalen ausgestorben und lebt als "sächsischer Zweig" weiter. Der andere große Strang stammt aus der Umgebung Cappenberg und hat zahlreiche Nachkommen in USA und Deutschland. In den vergangenen Jahren ist meine Forschung deutlich vorangeschritten. Beim Export hakte ich an "lebende Personen ausschließen". Hoffentlich vergaß ich bei keiner Person mit unbekanntem Todesdatum das Häkchen bei 'verstorben' zu setzen... Ich würde mich über Fragen zu diesen Familienbäumen freuen. |
